They split up Fast Money
« on: September 18, 2003, 01:07:38 PM »
I missed yesterday's Family Feud, but I didn't read anything on here about it, so I think this was the first time it happened.

Today a family won after the third round with 304 points.  I was surprised considering it was only 15 minutes into the show.  After a commercial break, Richard proceeded with Fast Money... but only the first part of Fast Money.  They then went to another commercial with a cool shot of the next FM player wearing head phones next to a TV showing the FF logo.  They came back and finished the FM round very quickly (After the second question they won).  There was still about 6 minutes left, so they played the Karn theme the whole way through and then went to some bloopers (one was VERY funny about Food Portions).

If you missed it, another station in my area plays the same episode at 1:30 and I'm gonna try out this new capture card I got with my computer and I'll try posting it somewhere.  It was a different feel the to the show.  I was wonder what they would do if a family won after the third round.

Those were slowly scrolling credits at the end, too. That theme rocks!! Glad they brought it back. And Richard looks great without the full beard. This show is getting better and better. Hope it's around for many more years.

They also showed a blooper reel after the credits rolled.

Yeah I had put that in my post...

I got it captured and am gonna try and make it smaller (its 300 megs AH!!!).  I also got the theme with a little bit of clapping... I love that version of the theme versus Louie's one even though a lot of people think they're almost exact.

And if \"Feud\" airs before news in some markets, I could just see the news team looking up at the monitors in the newsroom and seeing the credits a few minutes early--and then running like hell onto the set to try to start early, only to get thwarted when the blooper reel starts before they can do a squeezeback.

We may not see this in Chicago, since a Sox game pre-empts \"Feud\" and \"Pyramid\" in prime time tonight (and I don't know if WCIU moves the primary run to the morning airings in the event of pre-emptions--I suspect they don't).

Some additional notes about this \"blooper reel\":
  • Some of the material is simply funny (or \"funny\") material that was already aired.
  • If this one was any indication, expect to see clips from shows of the past week in future reels.
  • Richard and the staff managed to get three questions thrown out in only two clips. Impressive.

Only four episodes in (not counting the double run episodes) and \"Family Feud\" puts out a great episode like today. I hope that there's a sixth season!

On another note, I do have the Richard Karn theme available for download if you're interested.

If you get a \"Restored in one hour\" message, rest assured, you will be able to access the file eventually. Just keep trying.

...then the page is being hosted at freakin' Yahoo. Y'all really should learn to stop doing that.

As we've gone over here time and time again (and you appear to be new, so I'm not knocking you for not knowing this), there are boatloads of other options, if you just take a few minutes to look for them. Maybe not for you to open an MP3 Warehouse, but if you can store a page and a file in 5 MB (and if it's just one file every so often, you usually can), you can find someone teaching themselves how to admin a Linux box with Apache on it who would love a few guinea pigs.

I agree. Now that they finally got the scoring system worked out, there's a point to the game--all rounds count. I think now that they have the family members introduce each other at the beginning, plus the scoring system, the game runs more efficiently.

I meant I have the closing theme music, not the Louie version.  Yeah, there's a difference.  They used the theme I'm talking about for a couple weeks when Karn first started until they went with Combs' theme.

Here is what I mean: http://home.comcast.net/~daveromanjr/KARN.zip

Does anybody have that theme in a clean version?

Don't you think once they saw this show way going to be over *WAY* too soon, they would've gone back after the game was completed and had the families make longer intros to fill out some time? They might have picked up an extra minute or so. Did Dawson or Combs ever have to tap dance to stretch out a short show? This show reminds me of the Whammy! taping I was at earlier this year where they had to stop tape for almost 20 minutes to figure out how to stretch the last spin any player had to fill out the rest of the show. If GSN has aired it, it's the show where Todd comes over to the contestants and basically recaps the game and \"just chills out\" with them.

How about an audience game? Remember they did that for the first few weeks of \"Match Game\" when it went into syndication. Or maybe have Richard ask Burton five questions and see how he does... then again, it would cost them more because Burton would be on camera.

Long story short... more clip reels!

Personally, I think that a show like yesterday's could invite disillusioned Feud fans back to the show simply for the purpose of all the extracirricular activities that went on afterwards (changed FM format, extended credit roll, blooper reel)

BTW, who were all those people who piled onto the set?

Folks who had this confused for a Clark $100,000 Pyramid tournament. :-P
